Translation

✧ Mention of several events In the year one hundred and eighty-nine, al-Rashīd ransomed the Muslim captives who were in the lands of the Byzantines, and it is said that no Muslim captive remained there. One of the clever poets said about him: By you were released the captives for whom were erected prisons in which no close friend visits them, at a time when their ransom had exhausted the Muslims, and they said: the prisons of the polytheists are their graves. In it, al-Qāsim b. Hārūn al-Rashīd remained stationed at Marj Dābiq, besieging the Byzantines. In it, al-ʿAbbās b. Mūsā b. ʿĪsā b. Mūsā b. Muḥammad b. ʿAlī b. ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿAbbās led the people in the pilgrimage. In it, al-Rashīd appointed ʿAbd Allāh b. Mālik over Ṭabaristān, al-Rayy, [and al-Rūyān], Dunbāwand, Qūmis and Hamadhān, while he was heading to al-Rayy. Abū al-ʿAtāhiyah said about his journey there, and al-Rashīd had been born there: Indeed the Trustee of God over His creation, righteousness yearned through him for his birthplace, to set aright al-Rayy and its regions, and to shower goodness upon it from his hand. In this year: Saʿīd al-Jurashī arrived with four hundred men from Ṭabaristān, and they accepted Islam at the hand of al-Rashīd.
