ذِكْرُ عِدَّةِ حَوَادِثَ ثُمَّ دَخَلَتْ سَنَةُ سَبْعٍ وَسَبْعِينَ وَمِائَةٍ فَمِنَ الْحَوَادِثِ فِيهَا: أَنَّ الرَّشِيدَ عَزَلَ جَعْفَرَ بْنَ يَحْيَى عَنْ مِصْرَ، وَوَلَّاهَا إِسْحَاقَ بْنَ سُلَيْمَانَ. وَعَزَلَ حَمْزَةَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ عَنْ خُرَاسَانَ وَوَلَّاهَا الْفَضْلَ بْنَ يَحْيَى إِلَى مَا كَانَ إِلَيْهِ مِنَ الْأَعْمَالِ. وَهِيَ الرَّيُّ وَسِجِسْتَانُ وَغَيْرُهُمَا. وَفِيهَا: غَزَا الصَّائِفَةَ عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ التَّغْلِبِيُّ. وَكَانَ فِي لَيْلَةِ الْأَحَدِ لِأَرْبَعٍ بَقِينَ مِنَ الْمُحَرَّمِ ظُلْمَةٌ وَحُمْرَةٌ وَرِيحٌ، ثُمَّ كَانَتْ ظُلْمَةٌ لَيْلَةَ الْأَرْبِعَاءِ لِلَيْلَتَيْنِ بَقِيَتَا مِنَ الْمُحَرَّمِ، ثُمَّ كَانَتْ رِيحٌ وَظُلْمَةٌ شَدِيدَةٌ يَوْمَ الْجُمْعَةِ لِلَيْلَةٍ خَلَتْ مِنْ صَفَرٍ. وَفِيهَا: حَجَّ الرَّشِيدُ بِالنَّاسِ.
Translation
✧ Mention of several events, then the year 177 AH began. Among the events in it was: That al-Rashīd dismissed Jaʿfar b. Yaḥyā from Egypt and appointed Isḥāq b. Sulaymān over it. He dismissed Ḥamzah b. Mālik from Khurāsān and appointed al-Faḍl b. Yaḥyā in addition to the regions already under his authority, namely al-Rayy, Sijistān, and others. In it, ʿAbd al-Razzāq b. ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd al-Taghlibī led the summer expedition. On the night of Sunday, four nights remaining in al-Muḥarram, there was darkness, redness, and wind. Then there was darkness on Wednesday night, two nights remaining in al-Muḥarram. Then there was severe wind and darkness on Friday, one night having passed of Ṣafar. In it, al-Rashīd led the people in the pilgrimage.
