Then the year 142 AH began
وَفِيهَا: حَجَّ بِالنَّاسِ إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ. وَكَانَ الْعَامِلُ عَلَى الْمَدِينَةِ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ خَالِدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، وَعَلَى مَكَّةَ وَالطَّائِفِ الْهَيْثَمَ بْنَ مُعَاوِيَةَ، وَعَلَى الْكُوفَةِ وَأَرْضَهَا عِيسَى بْنَ مُوسَى، وَعَلَى الْبَصْرَةِ وَأَعْمَالِهَا سُفْيَانَ بْنَ مُعَاوِيَةَ، وَعَلَى قَضَائِهَا سَوَّارَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، وَعَلَى مِصْرَ حُمَيْدَ بْنَ قُحْطُبَةَ بْنِ شَبِيبٍ.
Translation
✧ In it: Ismāʿīl b. ʿAlī b. ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿAbbās led the people in the pilgrimage. The governor of al-Madīnah was Muḥammad b. Khālid b. ʿAbd Allāh, and over Makkah and al-Ṭāʾif was al-Haytham b. Muʿāwiyah, and over al-Kūfah and its land was ʿĪsā b. Mūsā, and over al-Baṣrah and its districts was Sufyān b. Muʿāwiyah, and over its judiciary was Sawwār b. ʿAbd Allāh, and over Miṣr was Ḥumayd b. Quḥṭubah b. Shabīb.
