Then the year 140 AH began
[ الْوَفَيَاتُ ] وَفِيهَا تُوُفِّيَ: سَعْدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَةَ . وَعَمْرُو بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي حَسَنٍ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ . وَعُمَارَةُ بْنُ غَزِيَّةَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ ، وَكَانَ ثِقَةً. وَأَبُو الْعَلَاءِ أَيُّوبُ الْقَصَّابُ . وَأَبُو جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْإِسْكَافِيُّ ، وَهُوَ مِنْ مُتَكَلِّمِي الْمُعْتَزِلَةِ، وَأَئِمَّتِهِمْ، وَلَهُ طَائِفَةٌ تُنْسَبُ إِلَيْهِ. وَأَسْمَاءُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ مُخَارِقٍ ، وَالِدُ جُوَيْرِيَةَ بْنِ أَسْمَاءٍ. وَفِيهَا تُوُفِّيَ دَاوُدُ ابْنُ أَبِي هِنْدَ، وَأَبُو حَازِمٍ سَلَمَةُ بْنُ دِينَارٍ، وَسُهَيْلُ بْنُ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، وَعُمَارَةُ بْنُ غَزِيَّةَ، وَعَمْرُو بْنُ قَيْسٍ السَّكُونِيُّ. وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ.
Translation
✧ [DEATHS] In it died: Saʿd b. Isḥāq b. Kaʿb b. ʿUjrah. And ʿAmr b. Yaḥyā b. Abī Ḥasan al-Anṣārī. And ʿUmārah b. Ghaziyyah al-Anṣārī, and he was trustworthy. And Abū al-ʿAlāʾ Ayyūb al-Qaṣṣāb. And Abū Jaʿfar Muḥammad b. ʿAbd Allāh al-Iskāfī, and he was among the theologians of the Muʿtazilah and their leaders, and he has a sect attributed to him. And Asmāʾ b. ʿUbayd b. Mukhāriq, the father of Juwayriyah b. Asmāʾ. And in it died Dāwūd b. Abī Hind, and Abū Ḥāzim Salamah b. Dīnār, and Suhayl b. Abī Ṣāliḥ, and ʿUmārah b. Ghaziyyah, and ʿAmr b. Qays al-Sakūnī. And Allah knows best.
