ذِكْرُ عِدَّةِ حَوَادِثَ غَزَا الصَّائِفَةَ هَذِهِ السَّنَةَ الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ ، فَنَزَلَ الْعَمْقَ وَبَنَى حِصْنَ مَرْعَشٍ، وَفِيهَا وَقَعَ الطَّاعُونُ بِالْبَصْرَةِ. وَحَجَّ بِالنَّاسِ هَذِهِ السَّنَةَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ مَرْوَانَ، وَكَانَ هُوَ أَمِيرَ مَكَّةَ وَالْمَدِينَةِ وَالطَّائِفِ، وَكَانَ بِالْعِرَاقِ يَزِيدُ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ هُبَيْرَةَ، وَكَانَ عَلَى قَضَاءِ الْكُوفَةِ: الْحَجَّاجُ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ الْمُحَارِبِيُّ، وَعَلَى قَضَاءِ الْبَصْرَةِ: عُبَادَةُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، وَكَانَ الْأَمِيرُ بِخُرَاسَانَ عَلَى مَا وَصَفْتُ. قُلْتُ: قَدْ ذَكَرَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ هَاهُنَا أَنَّ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ حَجَّ بِالنَّاسِ، وَكَانَ أَمِيرَ مَكَّةَ وَالْمَدِينَةِ، وَذُكِرَ فِيمَا تَقَدَّمَ أَنَّ عُرْوَةَ بْنَ الْوَلِيدِ كَانَ عَلَى الْمَدِينَةِ، وَذُكِرَ فِي آخِرِ سَنَةِ إِحْدَى وَثَلَاثِينَ أَنَّ عُرْوَةَ أَيْضًا كَانَ عَلَى الْمَدِينَةِ وَمَكَّةَ وَالطَّائِفِ وَأَنَّهُ حَجَّ بِالنَّاسِ تِلْكَ السَّنَةَ.
Translation
✧ Mention of several events This year al-Walīd b. Hishām led the summer expedition, so he camped at al-ʿAmq and built the fortress of Marʿash. In it, the plague occurred in al-Baṣrah. Muḥammad b. ʿAbd al-Malik b. Marwān led the people in the pilgrimage this year. He was the governor of Makkah, al-Madīnah, and al-Ṭāʾif. In al-ʿIrāq was Yazīd b. ʿUmar b. Hubayrah. Over the judiciary of al-Kūfah was al-Ḥajjāj b. ʿĀṣim al-Muḥāribī, and over the judiciary of al-Baṣrah was ʿUbādah b. Manṣūr. The governor in Khurāsān was as I described. I say: Abū Jaʿfar mentioned here that Muḥammad b. ʿAbd al-Malik led the people in the pilgrimage and was governor of Makkah and al-Madīnah, and it was mentioned previously that ʿUrwah b. al-Walīd was over al-Madīnah, and it was mentioned at the end of the year thirty-one that ʿUrwah too was over al-Madīnah, Makkah, and al-Ṭāʾif, and that he led the people in the pilgrimage that year.
