ذِكْرُ عِدَّةِ حَوَادِثَ فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ سَيَّرَ مَرْوَانُ يَزِيدَ بْنَ هُبَيْرَةَ إِلَى الْعِرَاقِ لِقِتَالِ مَنْ بِهِ مِنَ الْخَوَارِجِ فِي قَوْلٍ. وَحَجَّ بِالنَّاسِ فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، وَهُوَ عَامِلُ مَكَّةَ وَالْمَدِينَةِ. وَكَانَ بِالْعِرَاقِ عُمَّالُ الضَّحَّاكِ الْخَارِجِيِّ وَعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، وَعَلَى قَضَاءِ الْبَصْرَةِ: ثُمَامَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ، وَبِخُرَاسَانَ: نَصْرُ بْنُ سَيَّارٍ، وَالْفِتْنَةُ بِهَا قَائِمَةٌ.
Translation
✧ Mention of Several Events In this year, Marwān dispatched Yazīd b. Hubayrah to al-ʿIrāq to fight the Khārijites who were there, according to one statement. The pilgrimage for the people in this year was led by ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz b. ʿUmar b. ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz, who was the governor of Makkah and al-Madīnah. In al-ʿIrāq were the governors of al-Ḍaḥḥāk the Khārijite and ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿUmar b. ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz, and over the judgeship of al-Baṣrah was Thumāmah b. ʿAbd Allāh b. Anas, and in Khurāsān was Naṣr b. Sayyār, while the fitnah there was ongoing.
