Then the Year 127 AH Began
ذِكْرُ خِلَافِ أَهْلِ الْغُوطَةِ فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ خَالَفَ أَهْلُ الْغُوطَةِ، وَوَلَّوْا عَلَيْهِمْ يَزِيدَ بْنَ خَالِدٍ الْقَسْرِيَّ وَحَصَرُوا دِمَشْقَ، وَأَمِيرَهَا زَامِلَ بْنَ عَمْرٍو، فَوَجَّهَ إِلَيْهِمْ مَرْوَانُ مِنْ حِمْصَ أَبَا الْوَرْدِ بْنَ الْكَوْثَرِ بْنِ زُفَرَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ، وَعُمَرَ بْنَ الْوَضَّاحِ فِي عَشَرَةِ آلَافٍ، فَلَمَّا دَنَوْا مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ حَمَلُوا عَلَيْهِمْ، وَخَرَجَ عَلَيْهِمْ مَنْ بِالْمَدِينَةِ، فَانْهَزَمُوا وَاسْتَبَاحَ أَهْلُ مَرْوَانَ عَسْكَرَهُمْ، وَأَحْرَقُوا الْمِزَّةَ وَقُرًى مِنَ الْيَمَانِيَّةِ، وَأُخِذَ يَزِيدُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ فَقُتِلَ، وَبَعَثَ زَامِلٌ بِرَأْسِهِ إِلَى مَرْوَانَ بِحِمْصَ. وَمِمَّنْ قُتِلَ فِي هَذِهِ الْحَرْبِ عُمَيْرُ بْنُ هَانِئٍ الْعَبْسِيِّ مَعَ يَزِيدَ، وَكَانَ عَابِدًا كَثِيرَ الْمُجَاهَدَةِ.
Translation
✧ Mention of the opposition of the people of al-Ghūṭah In this year the people of al-Ghūṭah opposed, and they appointed over themselves Yazīd b. Khālid al-Qasrī and besieged Damascus, whose governor was Zāmil b. ʿAmr. Marwān sent against them from Ḥimṣ Abū al-Ward b. al-Kawthar b. Zufar b. al-Ḥārith and ʿUmar b. al-Waḍḍāḥ with ten thousand. When they drew near the city, they charged them, and those in the city came out against them, so they were defeated, and Marwān's men seized their camp as booty. They burned al-Mizzah and villages of the Yemenis. Yazīd b. Khālid was captured and killed, and Zāmil sent his head to Marwān in Ḥimṣ. Among those killed in this war was ʿUmayr b. Hāniʾ al-ʿAbsī, along with Yazīd. He was a devout worshipper, much given to striving in worship.
