ذِكْرُ عَزْلِ مَنْصُورٍ عَنِ الْعِرَاقِ وَوِلَايَةِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ عَزَلَ يَزِيدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ مَنْصُورَ بْنَ جُمْهُورٍ عَنِ الْعِرَاقِ، وَاسْتَعْمَلَ عَلَيْهِ بَعْدَهُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، وَقَالَ لَهُ لَمَّا وَلَّاهُ: سِرْ إِلَى الْعِرَاقِ فَإِنَّ أَهْلَهُ يَمِيلُونَ إِلَى أَبِيكَ. فَقَدِمَ إِلَى الْعِرَاقِ وَقَدَّمَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ رُسُلًا إِلَى مَنْ بِالْعِرَاقِ مِنْ قُوَّادِ الشَّامِ، وَخَافَ أَنْ لَا يُسَلِّمَ إِلَيْهِ مَنْصُورٌ الْعَمَلَ. فَانْقَادَ لَهُ أَهْلُ الشَّامِ، وَسَلَّمَ إِلَيْهِ مَنْصُورٌ الْعَمَلَ وَانْصَرَفَ إِلَى الشَّامِ، فَفَرَّقَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ الْعُمَّالَ وَأَعْطَى النَّاسَ أَرْزَاقَهُمْ وَأَعْطِيَاتِهِمْ. فَنَازَعَهُ قُوَّادُ أَهْلُ الشَّامِ وَقَالُوا: تُقَسِّمُ عَلَى هَؤُلَاءِ فَيْئَنَا وَهُمْ عَدُوُّنَا ؟ فَقَالَ لِأَهْلِ الْعِرَاقِ: إِنِّي أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَرُدَّ فَيْئَكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ، وَعَلِمْتُ أَنَّكُمْ أَحَقُّ بِهِ فَنَازَعَنِي هَؤُلَاءِ. فَاجْتَمَعَ أَهْلُ الْكُوفَةِ بِالْجَبَّانَةِ، فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَيْهِمْ أَهْلُ الشَّامِ يَعْتَذِرُونَ، وَثَارَ غَوْغَاءُ النَّاسِ مِنَ الْفَرِيقَيْنِ فَأُصِيبَ مِنْهُمْ رَهْطٌ لَمْ يُعْرَفُوا. وَاسْتَعْمَلَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ عَلَى شُرْطَتِهِ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْغَضْبَانِ الْقَبْعَثْرِيَّ، وَعَلَى خَرَاجِ السَّوَادِ وَالْمُحَاسَبَاتِ أَيْضًا.
Translation
✧ Mention of the dismissal of Manṣūr from Iraq and the appointment of ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿUmar b. ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz In this year, Yazīd b. al-Walīd b. ʿAbd al-Malik dismissed Manṣūr b. Jumhūr from Iraq, and appointed over it after him ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿUmar b. ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz. He said to him when he appointed him: "Go to Iraq, for its people incline toward your father." He arrived in Iraq, having sent messengers ahead of him to the commanders of Syria who were in Iraq, for he feared that Manṣūr would not hand over the province to him. The people of Syria submitted to him, and Manṣūr handed over the province to him and departed to Syria. ʿAbd Allāh distributed the governors and gave the people their provisions and stipends. The commanders of the people of Syria disputed with him and said: "Will you distribute our booty to these, our enemies?" He said to the people of Iraq: "I wish to restore your booty to you, and I know that you are more entitled to it, but these have disputed with me." The people of Kufa gathered at al-Jabbāna, so the people of Syria sent to them apologizing, and the rabble of the people from both parties rose up, and a group of them were struck without being known. ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿUmar appointed ʿUmar b. al-Ghaḍbān al-Qabʿatharī over his police, and also over the land tax of the Sawād and the accounts.
