✧ Summary of the story of Yūshaʿ b. Nūn ﷺ He is Yūshaʿ b. Nūn b. Afrāyīm b. Yūsuf b. Yaʿqūb b. Isḥāq b. Ibrāhīm al-Khalīl (peace be upon them). He is mentioned in the Qurʾān without his name being stated explicitly, in the story of Mūsā and al-Khaḍir (peace be upon them), in the Exalted's saying: "And [mention] when Moses said to his servant" [al-Kahf 60]. The People of the Book are agreed upon his prophethood ﷺ, and he was made a prophet during the lifetime of Mūsā ﷺ. They differed over his conquest of Jerusalem, whether it was during the lifetime of Mūsā ﷺ, and that he was at the vanguard of his army, or whether he conquered it after him. Allah, the Exalted, withheld the sun from setting for an hour of the day until Allah, the Exalted, granted him victory. He ﷺ entered the city, and the hand of the Children of Israel became established over Jerusalem, and Yūshaʿ was with him judging between them until he ﷺ was taken.
