Creation of the heavens and the earth
سُكَّانِ الْأَرْضِ رَوَى عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ ؓ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: "إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى خَلَقَ أَلْفَ أُمَّةٍ، سِتُّمِائَةٍ مِنْهَا فِي الْبَحْرِ وَأَرْبَعُمِائَةٍ فِي الْبَرِّ" . وَقَالَ وَهْبُ بْنُ مُنَبِّهٍ: إِنَّ لِلَّهِ تَعَالَى ثَمَانِيَةَ عَشَرَ أَلْفَ عَالَمٍ الدُّنْيَا مِنْ ذَلِكَ وَاحِدٌ. وَقَالَ أَبُو الْعَالِيَةِ: الْجِنُّ عَالَمٌ وَالْإِنْسُ عَالَمٌ، وَسِوَى ذَلِكَ ثَمَانِيَةَ عَشَرَ أَلْفَ عَالَمٍ مِنَ الْمَلَائِكَةِ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ، وَالْأَرْضُ أَرْبَعُ زَوَايَا كُلُّ زَاوِيَةٍ مِنْهَا أَرْبَعَةُ آلَافٍ وَخَمْسُمِائَةِ عَالَمٍ خَلَقَهُمُ اللَّهُ لِعِبَادَتِهِ. عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي دَهْرَسٍ، قَالَ: بَلَغَنِي أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ: "إِنَّ بِهَذَا الْمَغْرِبِ أَرْضًا بَيْضَاءَ مَسِيرَةٌ لِلشَّمْسِ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً بِهَا خَلْقٌ مِنْ خَلْقِ اللَّهِ لَمْ يَعْصُوا اللَّهَ طَرْفَةَ عَيْنٍ"، قَالُوا: فَأَيْنَ الشَّيْطَانُ عَنْهُمْ؟ قَالَ: "مَا تَدْرُونَ خُلِقَ الشَّيْطَانُ أَمْ لَمْ يُخْلَقْ"، قَالُوا: وَمِنْ وَرَاءِ آَدَمَ هُمْ؟ قَالَ: "وَمَا تَدْرُونَ خُلِقَ آدَمُ أَمْ لَمْ يُخْلُقْ".
Translation
✧ The Inhabitants of the Earth ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb ؓ narrated from the Prophet ﷺ that he said: "Indeed, Allah, the Exalted, created a thousand nations, six hundred of them in the sea and four hundred on land." Wahb b. Munabbih said: Verily, Allah, the Exalted, has eighteen thousand worlds; this world is but one of them. Abū al-ʿĀliyah said: The jinn are one world, mankind is another world, and besides that there are eighteen thousand worlds of angels upon the earth. And the earth has four corners, in each corner of which are four thousand five hundred worlds which Allah created for His worship. From ʿUthmān b. Abī Dahras, who said: It has reached me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Truly, in this west there is a white land, a journey of the sun for forty years, wherein are creatures from the creation of Allah who have not disobeyed Allah for the blink of an eye." They said: "So where is Satan in relation to them?" He said: "You do not know whether Satan has been created or not yet created." They said: "And are they from the progeny of Adam?" He said: "And you do not know whether Adam has been created or not yet created."
