The caliphate of Abū Bakr al-Ṣiddīq ᴿᴬ

ذِكْرُ صِفَتِهِ ؓ   كَانَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ؓ نَحِيفًا أَبْيَضَ، حَسَنَ الْقَامَةِ، خَفِيفَ الْعَارِضِينَ، مَعْرُوقَ الْوَجْهِ، غَائِرَ الْعَيْنَيْنِ، نَاتِئَ الْجَبْهَةِ، أَجْنَأَ لَا يَسْتَمْسِكُ إِزَارَهُ يَسْتَرْخِي عَنْ حَقْوَيْهِ، عَارِيَ الْأَشَاجِعِ، يُخَضِّبُ بِالْحِنَّاءِ وَالْكَتْمِ، وَكَانَ كَرِيمًا عَالِمًا بِأَنْسَابِ الْعَرَبِ. وَعَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ: كَانَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ؓ يُخَضِّبُ بِالْحِنَّاءِ وَالْكَتَمِ. وَعَنْ حَيَّانَ الصَّائِغِ، قَالَ: [كَانَ] نَقْشُ خَاتَمِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ؓ "نِعْمَ الْقَادِرُ اللَّهُ". قَالَ ابْنُ سَعْدٍ: عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ: أَنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ ؓ تَخَتَّمَ فِي الْيَسَارِ.

Translation

✧ Mention of his description ؓ Abū Bakr ؓ was slender and fair, of good stature, with little flesh on his cheeks, lean-faced, deep-set eyes, a prominent forehead, and he was slightly bent, his lower garment would not stay up but would slip down from his hips, he had thin forearms, and he used to dye with henna and katam. He was noble, knowledgeable in the genealogies of the Arabs. And on the authority of Anas, who said: Abū Bakr ؓ used to dye with henna and katam. And on the authority of Ḥayyān al-Ṣāʾigh, who said: [The] inscription of the seal-ring of Abū Bakr ؓ was "Niʿma al-Qādiru Allāh" (Excellent is the All-Powerful, Allah). Ibn Saʿd said: On the authority of Jaʿfar b. Muḥammad, from his father: that Abū Bakr ؓ wore a ring on his left hand.
