Chapter mentioning the offspring of Abraham (peace and blessings be upon him)

Translation

✧ Summary of the story of Dhu al-Kifl ﷺ The people of knowledge differed regarding the prophethood of Dhu al-Kifl. The well-known view is that he was a prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). They also differed in identifying who he was. Some of the people of knowledge said: He is Bishr b. Ayyūb, and Ayyūb sent him as a caller to the oneness of God in al-Shām. Others said: He is Yūshaʿ b. Nūn. It was also said: other than that. They differed regarding the reason for naming him Dhu al-Kifl in many ways, among them: that he undertook to fast during the day, stand in prayer at night, and not become angry, and he fulfilled that for God. Among them: that an unjust king killed the prophets of God, glorified be He, and a hundred prophets fled from him, so he took charge of them, and thus he was called al-Kifl, and other explanations mentioned by the scholars. He ﷺ died while he was in al-Shām, at the age of seventy-five years.
