Translation
✧ Chapter: The Prophet’s ﷺ entry into Makkah, may Allah, Mighty and Majestic, ennoble it When he ﷺ reached Dhū Ṭuwā in his journey, which is near Makkah, bordering the sanctuary—it is now known as Ābār al-Ẓāhir—he stopped the talbiyah because he had reached the intended destination. He spent the night there on Sunday night, four nights having passed of Dhū al-Ḥijjah, until morning. He prayed the dawn prayer there, in the place they described as between the two openings of the long mountain there. Whoever contemplates these indicated places with the eye of insight will know them well, and the place where the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed will be identified for him. Then he, may Allah’s prayers and ﷺ, bathed for the purpose of entering Makkah. Then he mounted and entered it by day, openly and publicly, from the upper mountain pass that is at al-Baṭḥāʾ—it is also called Kadāʾ—so that the people could see him and he could overlook them. Likewise, he entered from it on the day of the conquest, as we have mentioned. Mālik said, from Nāfiʿ, from Ibn ʿUmar, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered Makkah from the upper mountain pass and exited from the lower mountain pass. They both included it in the two Ṣaḥīḥs from his hadith. Then he proceeded until he entered the mosque in the forenoon. Al-Ṭabarānī narrated from Ibn ʿUmar ؓ who said: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered, and we entered with him, through the Gate of ʿAbd Manāf, which is the one the people call the Gate of Banū Shaybah.”—Its narrators are the narrators of the Ṣaḥīḥ except Marwān b. Abī Marwān. Al-Sulaymānī said: There is some doubt about him. Al-Bayhaqī narrated: And he exited from the Gate of Banū Makhzūm [to al-Ṣafā]. When he looked at the House, he faced it, raised his hands, and said the takbīr, and said: “O Allah, You are Peace, and from You is peace. So greet us, our Lord, with peace. O Allah, increase this House in honor, veneration, reverence, and awe, and increase those who venerate it—among those who perform ḥajj or ʿumrah to it—in reverence, honor, veneration, and piety.” Al-Ṭabarānī narrated, from Ḥudhayfah b. Asīd, that when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ looked at the House, he said: “O Allah, increase this House of Yours in honor, veneration, reverence, piety, and awe.”
