Translation
✧ The Thirteenth Chapter: On the delegations of Bāriq to him ﷺ. Ibn Saʿd, may God Almighty have mercy on him, said: A delegation from Bāriq came to the Messenger of God ﷺ. He called them to Islam, so they embraced Islam and pledged allegiance. The Messenger of God ﷺ wrote for them: “This is a document from Muḥammad, the Messenger of God, to Bāriq: their fruits shall not be cut, and their lands shall not be grazed in a spring pasture or a summer pasture except with a request from Bāriq. Whoever of the Muslims passes by them in a time of drought or barrenness shall have hospitality for three days. When their fruits ripen, the wayfarer may glean and fill his stomach without taking away anything.” Abū ʿUbaydah b. al-Jarrāḥ and Ḥudhayfah b. al-Yamān bore witness, and Ubayy b. Kaʿb wrote it.
