Translation
✧ THE DELEGATION OF THE DĀRIYYŪN TO HIM ﷺ They said: The delegation of the Dāriyyūn came to the Messenger of God ﷺ upon his return from Tabūk. They were ten men, among them Tamīm and Nuʿaym, the two sons of Aws b. Khārija b. Sawād b. Judhayma b. Dāriʿ b. ʿAdī b. al-Dār b. Hāniʾ b. Ḥabīb b. Numāra b. Lakhm; Yazīd b. Qays b. Khārija; al-Fākih b. al-Nuʿmān b. Jabala; Abū Hind and al-Ṭayyib, the two sons of Dharr—that is, ʿAbd Allāh b. Razīn; Hāniʾ b. Ḥabīb; and ʿAzīz and Murra, the two sons of Mālik b. Sawād b. Judhayma. They embraced Islam. The Messenger of God ﷺ named al-Ṭayyib ʿAbd Allāh and named ʿAzīz ʿAbd al-Raḥmān. Hāniʾ b. Ḥabīb gave the Messenger of God ﷺ horses and a cloak bordered with gold. He accepted the horses and the cloak [and gave it to al-ʿAbbās b. ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib], saying: "What shall I do with it?" He said: "Remove the gold and adorn your women with it, or spend it; then sell the brocade and take its price." Al-ʿAbbās sold it to a man from the Jews for eight thousand dirhams. Tamīm said: "We have neighbors among the Byzantines who possess two villages, one called Ḥibrā and the other Bayt ʿAynūn. If God grants you Syria, bestow them upon me." He said: "They are yours." When Abū Bakr took office, he gave him that and wrote him a document for it. The delegation of the Dāriyyūn remained until the Messenger of God ﷺ passed away, and he bequeathed them a hundred wasq load from Khaybar.
