The Conquest of Makkah
Translation
✧ His ﷺ eating at Umm Hāniʾ's ؓ Al-Ṭabarānī narrated from Ibn ʿAbbās ؓ that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Umm Hāniʾ on the day of the conquest: “Do you have any food that we may eat?” She said: “I have nothing but dry pieces of bread, and I am ashamed to offer them to you.” He said: “Bring them.” So she broke them into water, and she brought salt. He said: “Is there any condiment?” She said: “I have nothing, O Messenger of Allah, but a little vinegar.” He said: “Bring it.” So she poured it over the food and he ate from it, then praised Allah, then said: “What an excellent condiment vinegar is, O Umm Hāniʾ. A household will not be impoverished if it has vinegar as a condiment.”
