Translation
✧ The arrival of ʿUyaynah b. Ḥiṣn and Banū Fazārah to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at Khaybar after its conquest, and the signs that occurred in that Al-Bayhaqī narrated from Mūsā b. ʿUqbah, from al-Zuhrī – may Allah, exalted be He, have mercy on both of them –: that Banū Fazārah were among those who came to the people of Khaybar to help them, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent word to them not to help them, and asked them to depart from them, saying: "And you shall have from Khaybar such-and-such." But they refused him. Then when Allah granted the conquest of Khaybar, those of Banū Fazārah who were there came to him and said: "Our share and what you promised us." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Your share" – or he said: "For you is Dhū al-Raqībah" – a mountain among the mountains of Khaybar. They said: "Then we shall fight you." He said: "Your appointment is Janafā." When they heard that from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, they fled in terror. And al-Bayhaqī narrated from Muḥammad b. ʿUmar, from his shaykhs, who said: Abū Shuyaym al-Muzanī – ؓ – had embraced Islam and his Islam was good. He used to narrate and say: When we set out to our families with ʿUyaynah b. Ḥiṣn, ʿUyaynah turned back with us. When we were short of Khaybar, we camped at night and were startled. ʿUyaynah said: "Rejoice, for I saw last night in a dream that I was given Dhū al-Raqībah – a mountain at Khaybar – and indeed, by Allah, I had seized the neck of Muḥammad ﷺ." When we arrived at Khaybar, ʿUyaynah came and we found that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had already conquered Khaybar. ʿUyaynah said: "O Muḥammad! Give me some of what you have gained from my allies, for I have withdrawn from you and from fighting you." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "You lie, but the cry that you heard was me driving you off toward your family." He said: "Do you give me, O Muḥammad?" He said: "For you is Dhū al-Raqībah." ʿUyaynah said: "What is Dhū al-Raqībah?" He said: "The mountain that you saw in your dream that you had seized." ʿUyaynah departed, and when he returned to his family, al-Ḥārith b. ʿAwf came to him and said: "Did I not tell you that you would end up with nothing? By Allah, Muḥammad will prevail over all that lies between the east and the west. The Jews used to tell us this. I testify that I heard Abū Rāfiʿ Sallām b. Mishkam say: 'We indeed envy Muḥammad for prophethood, since he came forth from the Banū Hārūn, and he is a sent prophet. But the Jews do not agree with me on this. And we shall have from him two slaughters: one at Yathrib and another at Khaybar.'" Al-Ḥārith said: "I said to Sallām: 'Will he possess the entire earth?' He said: 'Yes, by the Torah that was sent down upon Moses, and I would not like the Jews to know of my saying about him.'"
