Translation

✧ Those killed in this expedition Among the Muslims: Muḥriz b. Naḍlah, one of the Banū Asad b. Khuzaymah, who was called al-Akhram. He was also called Qumayr. The horse beneath him belonged to Maḥmūd b. Maslamah—the horse was called Dhū al-Limmah—and when he reached the enemy, he said to them: 'Stop, O company of the Banū al-Lakīʿah, until those behind you from your rear, from the Muhājirūn and the Anṣār, catch up with you.' He said: A man among them charged at him and killed him, and the horse bolted and could not be brought under control until it stopped at a manger belonging to the Banū ʿAbd al-Ashhal, that is, it returned to its tethering place where it had been in Madinah. Ibn Isḥāq said: No Muslim was killed that day besides him. Ibn Hishām said: More than one of the people of knowledge has mentioned that Waqqāṣ b. Mujazziz al-Mudlijī was also killed alongside him. Ibn Isḥāq said: Someone I do not distrust narrated to me, from ʿAbd Allāh b. Kaʿb b. Mālik, that Muḥriz was riding a horse belonging to ʿUkkāshah b. Miḥṣan called al-Janāḥ. Muḥriz was killed, and al-Janāḥ was taken as spoil. God knows best. He said:
