The Expedition of Dhi Qarad (the Expedition of al-Ghabah)
[ الْقَتْلَى مِنْ الْمُشْرِكِينَ ] وَلَمَّا تَلَاحَقَتْ الْخَيْلُ قَتَلَ أَبُو قَتَادَةَ الْحَارِثَ بْنَ رِبْعِيٍّ، أَخُو بَنِي سَلِمَةَ، حَبِيبُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ بْنِ حِصْنٍ،. وَقيل قَتَلَ الْمِقْدَادُ [بْنُ عَمْرٍو: حَبِيبَ بْنَ عُيَيْنَةَ بْنَ حِصْنٍ، وَقِرْفَةَ بْنَ مَالِكِ بْنِ حُذَيْفَةَ بْنِ بَدْرٍ]. وقتل كذلك مَسْعَدَةُ بْنُ حَكَمَةَ - بِفَتْحَتَيْنِ، وَأُوثَارُ - بِضَمِّ الْهَمْزَةِ وَبِالثَّاءِ الْمُثَلَّثَةِ عِنْدَ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، وَابْنِ سَعْدٍ، وَبِالْمُوَحَّدَةِ عِنْدَ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، وَقَالَ ابْنُ عُقْبَةَ: أَوْبَارُ - بِفَتْحِ الْهَمْزَةِ وَسُكُونِ الْوَاوِ فَمُوَحَّدَةٍ وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ. وَابْنُهُ عَمْرُو بْنُ أَوْبَارَ، وَوَقَعَ عِنْدَ ابْنِ عُقْبَةَ: وَقِرْفَةُ امْرَأَةُ مَسْعَدَةَ.
Translation
✧ [Those Killed among the Polytheists] When the horsemen caught up with one another, Abū Qatādah killed al-Ḥārith b. Ribʿī, the brother of Banū Salimah, Ḥabīb b. ʿUyaynah b. Ḥiṣn. It was also said: al-Miqdād [b. ʿAmr killed Ḥabīb b. ʿUyaynah b. Ḥiṣn, and Qirfah bt. Mālik b. Ḥudhayfah b. Badr]. Likewise killed were Masʿadah b. Ḥakamah—with two fatḥahs—and Uthār—with a ḍammah on the hamzah and a three-pointed thāʾ according to Muḥammad b. ʿUmar and Ibn Saʿd, and with a one-pointed bāʾ according to Ibn Isḥāq, while Ibn ʿUqbah said: Awbār—with a fatḥah on the hamzah, a sukūn on the wāw, then a one-pointed bāʾ—and Allah knows best. And his son ʿAmr b. Awbār; and in Ibn ʿUqbah's account it occurs: Qirfah, the wife of Masʿadah.
