✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to teach us the tashahhud just as he taught us a surah from the Quran: "In the name of Allah and by Allah. Greetings are due to Allah." Abu al-Abbas said: Then he mentioned the hadith, and at its end: "O Allah, I ask You for Paradise and I seek refuge in You from the Fire."

  • Abū Bakr Aḥmad b. al-Ḥusayn al-Bayhaqī

machine translationHe is weak (ḍaʿīf), meaning Ayman, the narrator of the hadith.

  • Abū Zakariyyā Yaḥyá b. Sharaf al-Nawawī

machine translationIt is rejected, for a group of ḥadīth masters who are more eminent and more precise than al-Ḥākim declared it weak. Among those who declared it weak are al-Bukhārī, al-Tirmidhī, al-Nasāʾī and al-Bayhaqī. Al-Tirmidhī said: I asked al-Bukhārī about it and he said: it is a mistake.

  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationIt is narrated by al-Thawrī, Ibn Jurayj and Ayman b. Nābil from Abū al-Zubayr from Jābir. Layth b. Saʿd and ʿAmr b. al-Ḥārith differed from them: they narrated it from Abū al-Zubayr from Saʿīd b. Jubayr and Ṭāwūs from Ibn ʿAbbās. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Ḥumayd al-Ruʾāsī and Zakariyyā b. Khālid, a shaykh of the people of Kūfah from whom Qays b. al-Rabīʿ and others narrate, narrated it from Abū al-Zubayr from Ṭāwūs alone from Ibn ʿAbbās. The hadith of Ibn ʿAbbās is closer to the correct version than the hadith of Jābir.

  • Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī

machine translationIts narrators are trustworthy (thiqāt), except that Aymān b. Nāyil, who narrated it from Abū al-Zubayr, made a mistake in its chain of transmission. Al-Layth, who is among the most reliable of people regarding Abū al-Zubayr, contradicted him and said: from Abū al-Zubayr, from Ṭāwūs and Saʿīd b. Jubayr, from Ibn ʿAbbās.

  • Ishbīlī
