The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to teach us the tashahhud as he would teach us the Quran, and would say: al-taḥiyyātu al-mubārakātu al-ṣalawātu al-ṭayyibātu li-llāhi al-salāmu ʿalayka ayyuhā al-nabiyyu wa-raḥmatu Allāhi wa-barakātuhu al-salāmu ʿalaynā wa-ʿalā ʿibādi Allāhi al-ṣāliḥīna ʾashhadu ʾan lā ʾilāha ʾillā Allāhu wa-ʾashhadu ʾanna Muḥammadan rasūlu Allāhi (All greetings, blessings, prayers, and pure deeds belong to Allah. Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of Allah. I bear witness that there is no deity except Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.)

- Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī
machine translationOthers narrated it with the definite article, and both are authentic (ṣaḥīḥ), that is, the wording of the greeting of peace (al-salām).
in سنن أبي داود, p. 971 - Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī
machine translationIts narrators are trustworthy (thiqāt), except that Aymān b. Nāyil, who narrated it from Abū al-Zubayr, made a mistake in its chain of transmission. Al-Layth, who is among the most reliable of people regarding Abū al-Zubayr, contradicted him and said: from Abū al-Zubayr, from Ṭāwūs and Saʿīd b. Jubayr, from Ibn ʿAbbās.
