✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned the Dajjal one morning, and he lowered and raised (his voice) until we thought he was among the palm trees. When we returned to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he recognized that in us and said, “What is the matter with you?” We said, “O Messenger of Allah, you mentioned the Dajjal this morning, and you lowered and raised (your voice) until we thought he was among the palm trees.” He said, “If he emerges while I am among you, I will be his opponent on your behalf. If he emerges and I am not among you, then every person is his own opponent, and Allah is my successor over every Muslim. He is a young man with curly hair, his beard prominent, as if he resembles ‘Uzza ibn Qatan. Whoever of you sees him, let him recite the opening verses of Surah al-Kahf.” Then he said, “I think he will emerge between Syria and Iraq and spread corruption right and left. O servants of Allah, be steadfast.” We said, “O Messenger of Allah, how long will he remain on earth?” He said, “Forty days: a day like a year, a day like a month, a day like a week, and the rest of his days like your days.” We said, “O Messenger of Allah, on the day like a year, will the prayer of one day suffice us?” He said, “No, estimate its proper measure.” We said, “O Messenger of Allah, how fast will he travel on earth?” He said, “Like rain driven by the wind.” He will come to a people and call them, and they will believe in him and respond to him. He will command the sky and it will rain, and command the earth and it will produce vegetation. Their livestock will return to them with longer udders, fuller teats, and wider flanks than ever before. Then he will come to another people and call them, but they will reject his words, so he will turn away from them and their wealth will follow him, and they will wake up destitute, with nothing in their hands. Then he will pass by a ruin and say to it, ‘Bring out your treasures,’ and it will depart, and its treasures will follow him like swarms of bees. Then he will call a young Muslim man and strike him with a sword, cutting him into two pieces as far apart as an arrow’s flight. Then he will call him, and he will come forward with a shining face and laughing. While he is doing that, Allah Most High will send Jesus son of Mary. He will descend at the white minaret east of Damascus, wearing two garments dyed with saffron, placing his hands on the wings of two angels. When he lowers his head, drops fall, and when he raises it, pearls like jewels roll down from it. No disbeliever can smell his breath but dies. His reach extends as far as his sight, and he will seek the Dajjal until he catches him at the gate of Ludd and kills him. Then Jesus son of Mary ﷺ, the Prophet of Allah, will come to a people whom Allah has protected from him, and he will wipe their faces and tell them of their ranks in Paradise. While they are in that state, Allah will reveal to him: ‘O Jesus, I have brought forth servants of Mine whom no one can fight. Take My servants to the mountain.’ And Allah will bring out Gog and Magog, and they will descend from every height. The first of them will pass by the Lake of Tiberias and drink what is in it. Then the last of them will pass and say, ‘There was once water here.’ The Prophet of Allah Jesus and his companions will be besieged, until the head of an ox for one of them will be better than a hundred dinars for one of you today. The Prophet of Allah ﷺ and his companions will supplicate to Allah ﷻ, and Allah will send worms in their necks, and they will fall dead as one soul. The Prophet of Allah ﷺ and his companions will descend, and they will not find a single span of ground except that Allah has filled it with their fat, stench, and blood. The Prophet of Allah ﷺ and his companions will supplicate to Allah, and He will send birds with necks like those of Bactrian camels, which will carry them and cast them wherever He wills. Then Allah will send rain that will not spare any house of mud or hair, and it will wash the earth until it leaves it like a mirror. Then He will say to the earth, ‘Produce your fruit and restore your blessing.’ On that day, a group will eat from a single pomegranate and seek shade under its skin, and milk will be blessed, until a milch camel will suffice a large group, a milch cow will suffice a tribe, and a milch sheep will suffice a clan. While they are in that state, Allah will send a pleasant wind that will take them under their arms and seize the soul of every Muslim, and the rest of the people will remain, fornicating publicly as donkeys do, and upon them the Hour will come.”
