✧ We were struck by famine, so I came to Madinah and entered one of its walled gardens. I took an ear of grain, rubbed it, ate from it, and put some of it in my garment. The owner of the garden came and beat me and took my garment. I went to the Prophet ﷺ, and he said, "You did not teach him when he was ignorant, nor did you feed him when he was hungry or starving." He said: So he returned my garment to me and ordered for me half a wasq or a wasq [of grain].
