فَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَفَّانَ الْعَامِرِيُّ ثنا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ شَقِيقٍ عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ قَالَتْ
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِذَا حَضَرْتُمُ الْمَيِّتَ أَوِ الْمَرِيضَ فَقُولُوا خَيْرًا فَإِنَّ الْمَلَائِكَةَ يُؤَمِّنُونَ عَلَى مَا تَقُولُونَ» فَلَمَّا تُوُفِّيَ أَبُو سَلَمَةَ أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ كَيْفَ أَقُولُ؟ قَالَ «قُولِي اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لَنَا وَلَهُ وَأَعْقِبْنِي مِنْهُ عُقْبَى صَالِحَةً» فَقُلْتُهَا فَأَعْقَبَنِي اللَّهُ مُحَمَّدًا ﷺعلى شرط البخاري ومسلم إن لم يكونا أخرجاه

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When you are present with a dying person or a sick person, say good words, for the angels say ameen to what you say." When Abu Salamah died, I came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "What should I say?" He said, "Say: O Allah, forgive us and him, and grant me a good replacement after him." I said it, and Allah gave me Muhammad ﷺ in his place. It meets the conditions of al-Bukhari and Muslim if they did not include it.
