✧ Ziyad prolonged the sermon, so Hujr b. 'Adi said, 'The prayer!' He continued in his sermon, so he said to him, 'The prayer!' and struck his hand toward the pebbles, and the people struck their hands toward the pebbles. So he descended and prayed, then he wrote to Mu'awiya about him, and Mu'awiya wrote: 'Send him to me.' So he sent him to him. When he came before him, he said, 'Peace be upon you, O Commander of the Faithful.' He said, 'Am I the Commander of the Faithful? I will not release you nor seek your release.' Then he ordered his killing. When they took him, he asked them to let him pray two rak'as, so they allowed him, and he prayed two rak'as. Then he said, 'Do not release iron from me, do not wash blood from me, and bury me in my clothes, for I will be a disputant.' He said, 'Then he was killed.'
