حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْحَافِظُ أَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْمِصْرِيُّ ثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ ثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ
دَخَلَ عَلِيٌّ عَلَى فَاطِمَةَ وَهِيَ تَغْسِلُ الدَّمَ عَنْ وَجْهِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ كَمَا أَمْلَيْتُهُ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَلِيٍّ الْحَافِظَ يَقُولُ «لَمْ نَكْتُبْهُ مَوْصُولًا إِلَّا عَنْ أَبِي يَعْقُوبَ بِإِسْنَادِهِ وَالْمَشْهُورُ مِنْ حَدِيثِ ابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ مُرْسَلًا» وَإِنَّمَا يُعْرَفُ هَذَا الْمَتْنُ مِنْ حَدِيثِ أَبِي مَعْشَرٍ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ بْنِ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ بْنِ سَهْلٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ

✧ Ali entered upon Fatimah while she was washing the blood from the face of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he mentioned the hadith as I dictated it. I heard Abu 'Ali al-Hafiz say, "We did not write it as a connected report except from Abu Ya'qub with his chain. The well-known version is from the hadith of Ibn 'Uyaynah, from 'Amr ibn Dinar, from 'Ikrimah, as a mursal report. This particular text is known only from the hadith of Abu Ma'shar, from Ayyub ibn Abi Umamah ibn Sahl, from his father, from his grandfather."
