حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ بَالَوَيْهِ ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ رَبَاحٍ اللَّخْمِيُّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ

أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ خَطَبَ النَّاسَ فَقَالَ «مَنْ أَرَادَ أَنْ يَسْأَلَ عَنِ الْقُرْآنِ فَلْيَأْتِ أُبَيَّ بْنَ كَعْبٍ وَمَنْ أَرَادَ أَنْ يَسْأَلَ عَنِ الْحَلَالِ وَالْحَرَامِ فَلْيَأْتِ مُعَاذَ بْنَ جَبَلٍ وَمَنْ أَرَادَ أَنْ يَسْأَلَ عَنِ الْمَالِ فَلْيَأْتِنِي فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى جَعَلَنِي خَازِنًا»

✧ 'Umar b. al-Khattab addressed the people and said: "Whoever wants to ask about the Qur'an, let him go to Ubayy b. Ka'b. Whoever wants to ask about the lawful and the unlawful, let him go to Mu'adh b. Jabal. Whoever wants to ask about wealth, let him come to me, for Allah, Exalted, has made me a treasurer."
