✧ Ali proposed to the daughter of Abu Jahl to her uncle al-Harith b. Hisham. He consulted the Prophet ﷺ, who said, "Are you asking me about her lineage?" Ali said, "I know her lineage, but do you command me to marry her?" He said, "No. Fatimah is a piece of flesh from me, and I think only that she will grieve or become distressed." Ali said, "I will not do anything you dislike."
