أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الْمَحْبُوبِيُّ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْقَطِيعِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ
عَنْ أَبِي حَنْظَلَةَ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ مَكَّةَ أَنَّ عَلِيًّا خَطَبَ ابْنَةَ أَبِي جَهْلٍ فَقَالَ لَهُ أَهْلُهَا لَا نُزَوِّجُكَ عَلَى ابْنَةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «إِنَّمَا فَاطِمَةُ مُضْغَةٌ مِنِّي فَمَنْ آذَاهَا فَقَدْ آذَانِي»

✧ From Abu Hanzalah, a man from the people of Makkah, that Ali proposed to the daughter of Abu Jahl. Her family said to him, "We will not marry you off in addition to the daughter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." That reached the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said, "Fatimah is only a piece of flesh from me; whoever harms her has harmed me."
