حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو سَعِيدٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الثَّقَفِيُّ مِنْ أَصْلِ كِتَابِهِ ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ شَبِيبٍ الْمَعْمَرِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ الْأَزْدِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ الْمَكِّيِّ عَنْ عَمْرَةَ بِنْتِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَتْ
لَمَّا سَارَ عَلِيٌّ إِلَى الْبَصْرَةِ دَخَلَ عَلَى أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ يُوَدِّعُهَا فَقَالَتْ سِرْ فِي حِفْظِ اللَّهِ وَفِي كَنَفِهِ فَوَاللَّهِ إِنَّكَ لِعَلَى الْحَقِّ وَالْحَقُّ مَعَكَ وَلَوْلَا أَنِّي أَكْرَهُ أَنْ أَعْصَى اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ فَإِنَّهُ أَمَرَنَا ﷺ أَنْ نَقَرَّ فِي بُيُوتِنَا لَسِرْتُ مَعَكَ وَلَكِنْ وَاللَّهِ لَأُرْسِلَنَّ مَعَكَ مَنْ هُوَ أَفْضَلُ عِنْدِي وَأَعَزُّ عَلَيَّ مِنْ نَفْسِي ابْنِي عُمَرَ «هَذِهِ الْأَحَادِيثُ الثَّلَاثَةُ كُلُّهَا صَحِيحَةٌ عَلَى شَرْطِ الشَّيْخَيْنِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ» على شرط البخاري ومسلم

✧ When Ali marched to Basrah, he entered upon Umm Salamah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, to bid her farewell. She said, 'Go in Allah's protection and under His care. By Allah, you are upon the truth and the truth is with you. Were it not that I hate to disobey Allah and His Messenger, for he commanded us ﷺ to remain in our houses, I would have marched with you. But by Allah, I will send with you someone better in my sight and dearer to me than myself, my son Umar.' These three hadiths are all authentic upon the condition of the two Shaykhs, but they did not include them. Upon the condition of al-Bukhari and Muslim.
