✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about water and what visits it of beasts and predators. The Prophet ﷺ said: “If the water is two qullahs, it does not carry impurity.” “And with this narration the soundness of the hadith is established and confirmed, and it is clear that Abu Usama narrated the hadith from al-Walid b. Kathir from both of them together, for Shu'ayb b. Ayyub al-Sarifini is trustworthy and reliable, and likewise the path to him. And Muhammad b. Ishaq b. Yasar al-Qurashi has followed al-Walid b. Kathir in his narration from Muhammad b. Ja'far b. al-Zubayr.”

machine translationIt is a hadith that revolves around Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar b. al-Zubayr, who is a shaykh and not a proof in what he is alone in transmitting. Muḥammad b. Isḥāq and al-Walīd b. Kathīr narrated it from him. Some of them say in it: from Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar b. al-Zubayr, from ʿUbaydullāh b. ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUmar, from his father; and some of them say in it: from Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar b. al-Zubayr, from ʿUbaydullāh b. ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUmar, from his father. Ḥammād b. Salamah also narrated it from ʿĀṣim b. al-Mundhir, from ʿUbaydullāh b. ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUmar, from his father, and all of them raise it to the Prophet (marfūʿ). ʿĀṣim b. al-Mundhir is, in their view, soft (layyin), not a proof.
