✧ I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ pass by the market of Dhul-Majaz while I was among my merchandise. He passed wearing a red hulla, and I heard him saying: "O people, say: There is no god but Allah, and you will succeed." A man was following him, throwing stones at him, and had made his heel bleed, while he was saying: "O people, do not obey this one, for he is a liar." I said: "Who is this?" It was said: "A young man from Banu Abdul-Muttalib." When Allah made Islam prevail, we left al-Rabadha with a woman of ours in a litter until we stopped near Madinah. While we were sitting, a man came to us wearing two garments and greeted us. He said: "Where are the people from?" We said: "From al-Rabadha, and we have a red camel with us." He said: "Will you sell me this camel?" We said: "Yes." He said: "For how much?" We said: "For such-and-such a measure of dates." He said: "I take it," and he did not haggle. He took the camel's halter and went away until he disappeared among the walls of Madinah. Some of us said to others: "Do you know the man?" None of us knew him. The people blamed one another, saying: "You give your camel to someone you do not know!" The woman in the litter said: "Do not blame one another, for we have seen a man who will not betray you; I have never seen anything more like the full moon at night than his face." In the evening a man came to us and said: "Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Are you the ones who came from al-Rabadha?" We said: "Yes." He said: "I am the messenger of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to you. He commands you to eat from these dates until you are full, and to measure until you receive in full." We ate dates until we were full and measured until we received in full. Then we came to Madinah the next day, and there was the Messenger of Allah ﷺ standing and preaching to the people on the pulpit. I heard him say: "The upper hand is the giving hand, and begin with those you support: your mother, your father, your sister, your brother, then your nearest, then your nearest." Then a man from the Ansar said: "O Messenger of Allah, these are Banu Tha'laba ibn Yarbu' who killed so-and-so in the Jahiliyyah, so avenge us." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ raised his hands until I saw the whiteness of his armpits and said: "A mother does not bear the crime of her child; a mother does not bear the crime of her child."
