✧ That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited: “Then divorce them at the beginning of their waiting period.” Muslim already transmitted this hadith in full from Ibn Jurayj, from Ibn al-Zubayr, that he heard ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Ayman asking ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿUmar about a man who divorced his wife while she was menstruating, and I think he mentioned this wording. Muslim transmitted the hadith at greater length than this.

  • Qurṭubī

machine translationHis statement, "And the Prophet ﷺ recited: 'So divorce them at the beginning of their ʿiddah'", is an explicit attribution of this reading to the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ. However, it is irregular (shādhdh) with respect to the written copy of the Quran (muṣḥaf) and was transmitted through single chains (āḥād), so it is not Quran; rather, it is a sound (ṣaḥīḥ) report attributed to the Prophet ﷺ (marfūʿ).

  • Abū Daʾūd

  • Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr

  • Khaṭṭābī
