أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الْحَافِظُ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ وَبِشْرُ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ حِبَّانَ عَنْ أَبِي عَمْرَةَ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ

أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ تُوُفِّيَ يَوْمَ حُنَيْنٍ فَذَكَرُوا لِرَسُولِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «صَلُّوا عَلَى صَاحِبِكُمْ» فَتَغَيَّرَ وُجُوهُ النَّاسِ لِذَلِكَ فَقَالَ «إِنَّ صَاحِبَكُمْ غَلَّ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ» فَفَتَّشْنَا مَتَاعَهُ فَوَجَدْنَا خَرَزًا مِنْ خَرَزِ الْيَهُودِ لَا يُسَاوِي دِرْهَمَيْنِ

✧ A man from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ died on the day of Hunayn, and they mentioned him to the Messenger ﷺ, who said, "Pray over your companion." The faces of the people changed at that, so he said, "Your companion stole from the spoils in the path of Allah." We searched his belongings and found beads from the beads of the Jews, not worth two dirhams.
