✧ While they were on a journey, the people dismounted to eat in the morning. Shaddad said: 'Bring this dining cloth near so we may eat.' Then he said: 'I seek Allah's forgiveness. I have not spoken a word since I embraced Islam except that I rein it in and bridle it before this word of mine. It is not like that. Muhammad ﷺ said: But he said: O Shaddad, when you see people hoarding gold and silver, then hoard these words: O Allah, I ask You for steadfastness in all affairs and determination in righteousness. I ask You for gratitude for Your blessings and excellence in worshipping You. I ask You for a sound heart, a truthful tongue, and upright character. I seek Your forgiveness for what You know. I ask You for the good of what You know, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of what You know. Indeed, You are the Knower of the unseen.'
