✧ A woman came to the Prophet ﷺ while we were with him and said, "O Messenger of Allah, my husband Safwan b. al-Mu'attal beats me when I pray, breaks my fast when I fast, and does not pray the dawn prayer until the sun rises." He said, and Safwan was with him. He said, "So he asked him about what she said." He said, "O Messenger of Allah, as for her saying that he beats me when I pray, she recites two surahs which I forbade her, and I said, 'If it were one surah, it would suffice the people.' As for her saying that he breaks my fast when I fast, she goes off and fasts, while I am a young man and cannot be patient." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said on that day, "A woman is not to fast except with her husband's permission." And as for her saying that he does not pray until the sun rises, we are a household known for that; we hardly wake up until the sun rises. He said, "When you wake up, then pray."
