✧ The Prophet ﷺ passed by a man being cupped on the seventeenth of Ramadan and said, “The cupper and the one cupped have broken their fast.” Abu Muhammad al-Hasan b. Muhammad b. Ishaq al-Isfara'ini narrated to us: Muhammad b. Ahmad b. al-Bara' narrated to us: 'Ali b. al-Madini narrated to us; he said: The hadith of Shaddad b. Aws from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, that he saw a man being cupped in Ramadan, was reported by 'Asim al-Ahwal from Abu Qilabah from Abu al-Ash'ath, and reported by Yahya b. Abi Kathir from Abu Qilabah from Abu Asma' from Thawban. “I consider both hadiths authentic, for it is possible that he heard it from both of them.” As for the license for cupping for a fasting person, Muhammad b. Isma'il al-Bukhari included it in the Sahih.
