حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا بَحْرُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ الْخَوْلَانِيُّ قَالَ قُرِئَ عَلَى عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ أَخْبَرَكَ عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ بُكَيْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْأَشَجِّ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْأَكْوَعِ قَالَ
كُنَّا فِي رَمَضَانَ فِي عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَنْ شَاءَ صَامَ وَمَنْ شَاءَ أَفْطَرَ وَافْتَدَى بِطَعَامِ مِسْكِينٍ حَتَّى نَزَلَتِ الْآيَةُ {فَمَنْ شَهِدَ مِنْكُمُ الشَّهْرَ فَلْيَصُمْهُ} [البقرة 185] الْآيَةَ

✧ We were in Ramadan during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: whoever wished fasted, and whoever wished broke the fast and ransomed with food for a poor person, until the verse was revealed: {So whoever of you witnesses the month, let him fast it} [al-Baqarah 185]—the verse.
