✧ Abu Sa'id al-Khudri entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was feverish, with a velvet cloak over him. He placed his hand on it and found its heat above the cloak. Abu Sa'id said: 'How severe is the heat of your fever, O Messenger of Allah?' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Indeed, for us trial is intensified and reward is multiplied.' Then he said: 'O Messenger of Allah, which people are most severely tried?' He said: 'The prophets.' He said: 'Then who?' He said: 'The scholars.' He said: 'Then who?' He said: 'Then the righteous. One of them would be tried with poverty until he found nothing but a cloak to wear, and would be tried with lice until it killed him. And one of them was more joyful at trial than one of you is at a gift.' Abu al-'Abbas narrated to us from Bahr in the Musnad and from al-Rabi' in al-Fawa'id, and I combined them.
