✧ Abu Saʿid al-Khudri entered on Friday while Marwan b. al-Hakam was delivering the sermon. He stood up to pray, and the guards came to make him sit, but he refused until he had prayed. When Marwan finished, we came to him and said, "May Allah have mercy on you, they almost did something to you." He said, "I would not leave it after something I saw from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." Then he mentioned a man who came on Friday while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was delivering the sermon, and then came on the following Friday while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was delivering the sermon. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered the people to give charity, so the man threw one of his two garments. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed, then rebuked him and said, "Take your garment." Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "This man entered in a shabby appearance, so I ordered the people to give charity, and this one threw one of his two garments." Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered him to pray two rakʿahs.
