✧ From Ali b. Husayn regarding His saying: {and a believing woman if she gives herself to the Prophet} — that it was Umm Sharik al-Azdiyyah who gave herself to the Prophet ﷺ.

✧ When Fatimah bt. Asad b. Hashim, the mother of Ali b. Abi Talib, died, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon her and sat at her head and said: 'May Allah have mercy on you, O my mother. You were my mother after my mother. You fed me while you went hungry, and clothed me while you went unclothed, and denied yourself good things and gave them to me, seeking thereby the face of Allah and the Hereafter.' Then he ordered that she be washed three times. When the water with the camphor was brought, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ poured it with his hand. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ removed his shirt and clothed her in it, and shrouded her with a garment over it. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called Usamah b. Zayd, Abu Ayyub al-Ansari, Umar b. al-Khattab, and a black slave to dig, and they dug her grave. When they reached the lahd, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ dug it with his hand and removed its earth with his hand. When he finished, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered and lay down in it, then said: 'O Allah, who gives life and causes death, and He is living and does not die, forgive my mother Fatimah bt. Asad, prompt her with her proof, and widen her entrance, by the right of Your Prophet and the prophets before me, for You are the most merciful of the merciful.' He said the takbir over her four times, and he, al-Abbas, and Abu Bakr al-Siddiq ؓ placed her in the lahd.

✧ Fatimah bt. Muhammad used to suffice him for the inside, and Fatimah bt. Asad used to suffice him for the outside, meaning the Prophet ﷺ.
