  1. Sunan ad-Darimi 2045Sahih

    سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنْ صَيْدِ الْكَلْبِ فَقَالَ «مَا أَمْسَكَ عَلَيْكَ كَلْبُكَ فَكُلْ فَإِنَّ أَخْذَهُ ذَكَاتُهُ وَإِنْ وَجَدْتَ مَعَهُ كَلْبًا فَخَشِيتَ أَنْ يَكُونَ قَدْ أَخَذَهُ مَعَهُ وَقَدْ قَتَلَهُ فَلَا تَأْكُلْهُ فَإِنَّكَ إِنَّمَا ذَكَرْتَ اسْمَ اللَّهِ عَلَى كَلْبِكَ وَلَمْ تَذْكُرْهُ عَلَى غَيْرِهِ»

    ✧ I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the game caught by a dog. He said: “What your dog holds back for you, eat, for its taking is its slaughter. But if you find another dog with it and you fear that the other dog took it with it and killed it, then do not eat it, for you only mentioned the name of Allah over your dog, and you did not mention it over the other.”

  2. Sunan ad-Darimi 2046Sahih

    سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنْ صَيْدِ الْمِعْرَاضِ فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ

    ✧ I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the game of the mi'rād, and he mentioned the like of it.

  3. Sunan ad-Darimi 2047Sahih

    «مَنْ اقْتَنَى كَلْبًا إِلَّا كَلْبَ صَيْدٍ أَوْ مَاشِيَةٍ نَقَصَ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطَانِ»

    ✧ “Whoever keeps a dog, except a hunting dog or a livestock dog, two qīrāṭs are deducted from his reward every day.”

  4. Sunan ad-Darimi 2048Sahih

    «مَنْ اقْتَنَى كَلْبًا لَا يُغْنِي عَنْهُ زَرْعًا وَلَا ضَرْعًا نَقَصَ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطٌ»

    “I heard the Prophet ﷺ say: ‘Whoever keeps a dog that he does not need for farming or herding, one Qirat will be deducted from his (good) deeds each day.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3206)

  5. Sunan ad-Darimi 2049Sahih

    أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَمَرَ بِقَتْلِ الْكِلَابِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «مَالِي وَلِلْكِلَابِ؟» ثُمَّ رَخَّصَ فِي كَلْبِ الزَّرْعِ وَكَلْبِ الصَّيْدِ

    ✧ The Prophet ﷺ commanded the killing of dogs, then said: “What have I to do with dogs?” Then he gave a concession for the dog of cultivation and the dog of hunting.

  6. Sunan ad-Darimi 2050Accepted

    «أَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِقَتْلِ الْكِلَابِ»

    ✧ “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded the killing of dogs.”

  7. Sunan ad-Darimi 2051Sahih

    «لَوْلَا أَنَّ الْكِلَابَ أُمَّةٌ مِنَ الْأُمَمِ لَأَمَرْتُ بِقَتْلِهَا كُلِّهَا وَلَكِنِ اقْتُلُوا مِنْهَا كُلَّ أَسْوَدَ بَهِيمٍ»

    ✧ “Were it not that dogs are a community among the communities, I would have commanded that all of them be killed. But kill from them every pure black one.”

  8. Sunan ad-Darimi 2052Sahih

    سَأَلْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَنِ الْمِعْرَاضِ فَقَالَ «إِذَا أَصَابَ بِحَدِّهِ فَكُلْ وَإِذَا أَصَابَ بِعَرْضِهِ فَقَتَلَ فَإِنَّهُ وَقِيذٌ فَلَا تَأْكُلْ»

    ✧ I asked the Prophet ﷺ about the mi'rād. He said: “If it strikes with its edge, eat; but if it strikes with its broad side and kills, then it is a waqīdh, so do not eat.”

  9. Sunan ad-Darimi 2053Sahih

    «غَزَوْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ سَبْعَ غَزَوَاتٍ نَأْكُلُ الْجَرَادَ»

    ✧ “We went on seven military expeditions with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ eating locusts.”

  10. Sunan ad-Darimi 2054Sahih

    سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ إِنَّا نَرْكَبُ الْبَحْرَ وَنَحْمِلُ مَعَنَا الْقَلِيلَ مِنَ الْمَاءِ فَإِنْ تَوَضَّأْنَا بِهِ عَطِشْنَا أَفَنَتَوَضَّأُ مِنْ مَاءِ الْبَحْرِ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «هُوَ الطَّهُورُ مَاؤُهُ الْحِلُّ مَيْتَتُهُ»

    ✧ A man asked the Prophet ﷺ: “We travel by sea and carry with us a little fresh water. If we perform ablution with it, we become thirsty. May we perform ablution with seawater?” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Its water is purifying, and its dead animals are lawful.”

  11. Sunan ad-Darimi 2055Sahih

    «بَعَثَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي ثَلَاثِ مِائَةٍ فَأَصَابَنَا جُوعٌ حَتَّى أَتَيْنَا الْبَحْرَ وَقَدْ قَذَفَ دَابَّةً فَأَكَلْنَا مِنْهَا حَتَّى ثَابَتْ أَجْسَامُنَا فَأَخَذَ أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ ضِلْعًا مِنْ أَضْلَاعِهَا فَوَضَعَهُ ثُمَّ حَمَلَ أَطْوَلَ رَجُلٍ فِي الْجَيْشِ عَلَى أَعْظَمِ بَعِيرٍ فِي الْجَيْشِ فَمَرَّ تَحْتَهُ»

    ✧ “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent us out in a party of three hundred, and we were struck by hunger until we reached the sea, and it had cast up a beast. We ate from it until our bodies regained strength. Abu ʿUbaydah took one of its ribs and set it up, then he mounted the tallest man in the army on the largest camel in the army, and the man passed under it.”

  12. Sunan ad-Darimi 2056Sahih

    أَنْفَجْنَا أَرْنَبًا وَنَحْنُ بِمَرِّ الظَّهْرَانِ فَسَعَى الْقَوْمُ فَلَغِبُوا فَأَخَذْتُهَا وَجِئْتُ بِهَا إِلَى أَبِي طَلْحَةَ فَذَبَحَهَا وَبَعَثَ بِوَرِكَيْهَا أَوْ فَخِذَيْهَا شَكَّ شُعْبَةُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ «فَقَبِلَهَا»

    ✧ We startled a rabbit while we were at Marr al-Ẓahrān. The people ran after it and became exhausted. I caught it and brought it to Abu Ṭalḥah, who slaughtered it and sent its two haunches—or its two thighs, Shuʿbah was unsure—to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he accepted it.

  13. Sunan ad-Darimi 2057Sahih

    أَنَّهُ مَرَّ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ بِأَرْنَبَيْنِ مُعَلِّقُهُمَا فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي دَخَلْتُ غَنَمَ أَهْلِي فَاصْطَدْتُ هَذَيْنِ الْأَرْنَبَيْنِ فَلَمْ أَجِدْ حَدِيدَةً أُذَكِّيهِمَا بِهَا فَذَكَّيْتُهُمَا بِمَرْوَةٍ أَفَآكُلُ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ»

    ✧ He passed by the Prophet ﷺ with two rabbits hanging. He said: “O Messenger of Allah, I entered my family's sheep flock and hunted these two rabbits, but I could not find an iron blade to slaughter them with, so I slaughtered them with a sharp stone. May I eat?” He said: “Yes.”

  14. Sunan ad-Darimi 2058Sahih

    سُئِلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عَنِ الضَّبِّ فَقَالَ «لَسْتُ بِآكِلِهِ وَلَا مُحَرِّمِهِ»

    ✧ The Prophet ﷺ was asked about the dabb lizard, and he said: “I am not one to eat it, nor do I declare it forbidden.”

  15. Sunan ad-Darimi 2059Sahih

    أُتِيَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِضَبٍّ فَقَالَ «أُمَّةٌ مُسِخَتْ وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ»

    ✧ A dabb lizard was brought to the Prophet ﷺ, and he said: “A nation that was transformed, and Allah knows best.”

  16. Sunan ad-Darimi 2060Weak

    أَنَّهُ دَخَلَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَلَى مَيْمُونَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَهِيَ خَالَتُهُ وَخَالَةُ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فَوَجَدَ عِنْدَهَا ضَبًّا مَحْنُوذًا قَدِمَتْ بِهِ أُخْتُهَا حُفَيْدَةُ بِنْتُ الْحَارِثِ مِنْ نَجْدٍ فَقَدَّمَتِ الضَّبَّ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَكَانَ قَلَّمَا يُقَدِّمُ يَدَهُ لِطَعَامٍ حَتَّى يُحَدَّثَ بِهِ وَيُسَمَّى لَهُ فَأَهْوَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَدَهُ إِلَى الضَّبِّ فَقَالَتِ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ نِسْوَةِ الْحُضُورِ أَخْبِرْنَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَا قَدَّمْتُنَّ لَهُ قُلْنَ هَذَا الضَّبُّ فَرَفَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَدَهُ فَقَالَ خَالِدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ أَتُحَرِّمُ الضَّبَّ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ؟ قَالَ «لَا وَلَكِنَّهُ لَمْ يَكُنْ بِأَرْضِ قَوْمِي فَأَجِدُنِي أَعَافُهُ» قَالَ خَالِدٌ فَاجْتَرَرْتُهُ فَأَكَلْتُهُ وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَنْظُرُ فَلَمْ يَنْهَنِي

    ✧ He entered with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ upon Maymunah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, who was his maternal aunt and the maternal aunt of Ibn Abbas. He found with her a roasted dabb lizard that her sister Hufaydah bt. al-Harith had brought from Najd. She offered the dabb to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he rarely extended his hand to food until it was described to him and named for him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ reached his hand toward the dabb, and a woman among the women present said: Tell the Messenger of Allah ﷺ what you have offered him. They said: It is dabb. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ withdrew his hand, so Khalid b. al-Walid said: Do you forbid dabb, O Messenger of Allah? He said: “No, but it is not found in the land of my people, and I find myself averse to it.” Khalid said: So I pulled it over and ate it while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was watching, and he did not forbid me.

  17. Sunan ad-Darimi 2061Sahih

    قَدِمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ الْمَدِينَةَ وَالنَّاسُ يَجُبُّونَ أَسْنِمَةَ الْإِبِلِ وَأَلْيَاتِ الْغَنَمِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «مَا قُطِعَ مِنْ بَهِيمَةٍ وَهِيَ حَيَّةٌ فَهُوَ مَيْتَةٌ»

    ✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to Madinah while the people were cutting off the humps of camels and the fat tails of sheep. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Whatever is cut from an animal while it is alive is carrion.”
