أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ قِرَاءَةً عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ سُلَيْمٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ مِنْ آلِ الْأَزْرَقِ أَنَّ الْمُغِيرَةَ بْنَ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ وَهُوَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي عَبْدِ الدَّارِ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ
سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ إِنَّا نَرْكَبُ الْبَحْرَ وَنَحْمِلُ مَعَنَا الْقَلِيلَ مِنَ الْمَاءِ فَإِنْ تَوَضَّأْنَا بِهِ عَطِشْنَا أَفَنَتَوَضَّأُ مِنْ مَاءِ الْبَحْرِ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «هُوَ الطَّهُورُ مَاؤُهُ الْحِلُّ مَيْتَتُهُ»

✧ A man asked the Prophet ﷺ: “We travel by sea and carry with us a little fresh water. If we perform ablution with it, we become thirsty. May we perform ablution with seawater?” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Its water is purifying, and its dead animals are lawful.”
