89. ✧ al-Jarud b. al-Mu'alla, ᴿᴬ

    كُنَّا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي بَعْضِ أَسْفَارِهِ وَفِي الظَّهْرِ قِلَّةٌ، فَتَذَاكَرَ الْقَوْمُ بَيْنَهُمُ الظَّهْرَ، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَا تَقُولُ فِي الضَّالَّةِ ؟ فَقَالَ: إِذَا رَأَيْتَ ضَالَّةً أَوْ لُقَطَةً فَانْشُدْهَا، وَلَا تَكْتُمْ وَلَا تُغَيِّرْ، وَرَأَيْتُهُ فِي مَوْضِعٍ آخَرَ فَانْشُدْهَا وَلَا تَكْتُمْ وَلَا تُغَيِّبْ، فَإِنْ عَرَفْتَ صَاحِبَهَا وَإِلَّا فَمَالُ اللهِ يُؤْتِيهِ مَنْ يَشَاءُ

    ✧ We were with the Prophet ﷺ on one of his journeys, and there was a scarcity of riding animals. The people discussed among themselves the riding animals, and a man said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what do you say about a stray animal?' He replied: 'When you find a stray animal or a lost item, announce it, and do not conceal it or alter it.' And I saw him in another place: 'Announce it, and do not conceal it or hide it. If you recognize its owner, then return it; otherwise, it is the wealth of Allah, which He gives to whomever He wills.'

    نَا هِلَالُ بْنُ حِقٍّ، عَنِ الْجُرَيْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَلَاءِ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ، عَنْ أَبِي مُسْلِمٍ، عَنِ الْجَارُودِ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ بِنَحْوِهِ

    ✧ Hilal b. Hiqq reported to us, from al-Jurayri, from Abu al-'Ala', from Mutarrif, from Abu Muslim, from al-Jarud, from the Prophet ﷺ, something similar.
