✧ Allah, Blessed and Exalted, commanded me to teach you what you did not know of what He taught me this day. Indeed, every property I have bestowed upon My servants is lawful. And I created My servants all as hunafa' (upright monotheists), but the devils came to them and turned them away from their religion, and forbade them what I had made lawful for them, and commanded them to associate with Me that for which I sent down no authority. And Allah, Blessed and Exalted, looked upon the people of the earth and loathed them, their Arabs and non-Arabs, except for remnants of the People of the Book. He said: O Muhammad, I have sent you only to test you and to test by you, and I have sent down upon you a Book that water cannot wash away, which you recite while asleep and awake. And my Lord, Blessed and Exalted, commanded me to burn Quraysh, so I said: O Lord, then they would smash my head and leave it like a piece of bread. He said: Drive them out as they drove you out, and spend and I shall spend on you, and send an army and I shall send five times its like, and fight with those who obey you against those who disobey you. And He said: The people of Paradise are three: a ruler who is just, truthful, and granted success; a man who is tender-hearted toward every Muslim; and a chaste man who gives charity. And He said: The people of the Fire are five: a man for whom no desire arises except that he betrays it; a man who does not reach evening or morning except that he is deceiving you about your family and your wealth; the weak one who has no restraint, those among you who are followers." A man said: O Abu 'Abd Allah, is he from the clients or from the Arabs? He said: "He is the follower, who follows a man and gets from his service illicitly, not through marriage." And he mentioned miserliness and lying, or he said: lying and miserliness.

✧ 'Awf narrated to us, from Hakim al-Athram, from al-Hasan, from Mutarrif, from 'Iyad b. Himar, from the Prophet ﷺ, something similar. And Hakim al-Athram is a Basran, from whom 'Awf and Hammad b. Salama narrated, but there is something in his hadith because Hammad b. Salama narrated from him a rejected hadith, so for that reason we began with the hadith of Qatada before his, and were it not for that we would have mentioned al-Hasan from Mutarrif since he is more distinguished.

✧ Allah, Blessed and Exalted, revealed to me that you should humble yourselves so that no one boasts over another.
