ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ بَحْرٍ الْعَطَّارُ بِالْبَصْرَةَ نا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الصَّفَّارُ نا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ نا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنَ قَنَّةَ نا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيُّ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ بَعَثَ سَرِيَّةً عَلَيْهَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ فَمَرَّ بِقَرْيَةٍ فَإِذَا مَلِكُ الْقَرْيَةِ لَدِيغٌ فَسَأَلْنَاهُمْ طَعَامًا فَلَمْ يُطْعِمُونَا وَلَمْ يُنْزِلُونَا فَمَرَّ بِنَا رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْقَرْيَةِ فَقَالَ يَا مَعْشَرَ الْعَرَبِ هَلْ مِنْكُمْ أَحَدٌ يُحْسِنُ أَنْ يَرْقِيَ إِنَّ الْمَلِكَ يَمُوتُ قَالَ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ فَأَتَيْتُهُ فَقَرَأْتُ عَلَيْهِ فَاتِحَةَ الْكِتَابِ فَأَفَاقَ وَبَرَأَ فَبَعَثَ إِلَيْنَا بِالنُّزُلِ وَبَعَثَ إِلَيْنَا بِالشَّاءِ فَأَكَلْنَا الطَّعَامَ أَنَا وَأَصْحَابِي وَأَبَوْا أَنْ يَأْكُلُوا مِنَ الْغَنَمِ حَتَّى أَتَيْنَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ الْخَبَرَ فَقَالَ وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ أَنَّهَا رُقْيَةٌ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ شَيْءٌ أُلْقِيَ فِي رَوْعِي قَالَ فَكُلُوا وَأَطْعِمُونَا مِنَ الْغَنَمِ

Then a man from the people of the village passed by us and said: "O company of Arabs, is there anyone among you who is able to perform ruqyah? The chief is dying." Abū Saʿīd said: I went to him and recited the Opening of the Book (al-Fātiḥah) over him, and he recovered and was cured. So he sent us the hospitality provisions and sent us sheep. My companions and I ate the food, but they refused to eat from the sheep until we came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I told him what had happened, and he said: "What made you know that it is a ruqyah?" I said: "O Messenger of Allah, it was something cast into my mind." He said: "Eat, and feed us from the sheep."
