  1. Abū Hurayrah

✧ By God, there is no believer who hears of me and does not see me but that he loves me. So I said: “And how do you know that, O Abu Hurayrah?” He said: “My mother was a polytheist, and I used to call her to Islam but she refused. One day I called her and she made me hear about the Prophet ﷺ what I disliked. So I came to the Prophet ﷺ while I was weeping and said: ‘O Messenger of God, I used to call my mother to Islam but she refused me. Today I called her and she made me hear about you what I disliked. So supplicate God to guide Abu Hurayrah’s mother.’ The Prophet ﷺ said: ‘O God, guide Abu Hurayrah’s mother.’ I went out running to give her the good news of the Messenger of God’s ﷺ supplication. When I reached the door, it was closed and I heard the splashing of water. She heard the rustle of my feet and said: ‘O Abu Hurayrah, stay where you are.’ She opened the door, and she had put on her shift but was too hasty for her head-covering. She said: ‘I bear witness that there is no god but God and that Muhammad is His servant and messenger.’ I returned to the Messenger of God ﷺ weeping from joy just as I had wept from sorrow and said: ‘O Messenger of God, rejoice, for God has answered your supplication; God has guided Abu Hurayrah’s mother!’ Then I said: ‘O Messenger of God, supplicate God to make me and my mother beloved to His believing servants and to make them beloved to me.’ The Messenger of God ﷺ said: ‘O God, make Your servant Abu Hurayrah and his mother beloved to Your believing servants and make them beloved to him.’ Abu Hurayrah said: ‘By God, there is no believer who hears of me but that he loves me.’”
