✧ Abu Imran al-Jawni on the authority of Anas

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَبِيبِ بْنِ عَدِيٍّ، نَا خَالِدُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، نَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ;

أَنَّ امْرَأَةً يَهُودِيَّةً أَتَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ بِشَاةٍ مَسْمُومَةٍ فَأَكَلَ مِنْهَا فَجِيءَ بِهَا فَقِيلَ: أَلَا تَقْتُلُهَا، أَوْ أَلَا نَقْتُلُهَا، قَالَ: لَا، قَالَ: فَمَا زِلْتُ أَعْرِفُهَا فِي لَهَوَاتِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ

Translation

✧ A Jewish woman brought the Prophet ﷺ a poisoned sheep, and he ate from it. She was brought, and it was said: 'Will you not kill her, or shall we kill her?' He said: 'No.' He said: 'I continued to recognize its effect in the palate of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.'
