✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ proposed on behalf of Julaybib to a woman from the Ansar to her father. He said, 'Until I consult her mother.' The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Then yes.' The man went to his wife and mentioned that to her. She said, 'No, by Allah! Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ find no one but Julaybib? We have refused her to so-and-so and so-and-so.' The girl was in her curtain listening. He and his wife went intending to go to the Prophet ﷺ. The girl said, 'Where are you going? Do you intend to reject the command of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ? If he has approved him for you, then marry me to him.' It was as if she had untied a fetter from her parents—or words to that effect. They said, 'You have spoken the truth.' Her father went to the Prophet ﷺ and informed him. He said, 'If you are pleased with him, then we are pleased.' He said, 'So he married her to him. Then the people of Madinah were alarmed, and Julaybib rode out. They found him killed, and around him they found as many as Allah willed of the polytheists whom he had killed.' Anas said: 'I saw her, and she was the most generous widow in Madinah.'
