حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ، نَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ، نَا صَدَقَةُ - يَعْنِي: ابْنَ مُوسَى - عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ:

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ: إِنَّ أَبِي مَاتَ وَلَمْ يَحُجَّ حَجَّةَ الْإِسْلَامِ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: أَرَأَيْتَ لَوْ كَانَ عَلَى أَبِيكَ دَيْنٌ أَكُنْتَ تَقْضِيهِ عَنْهُ ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: فَإِنَّهُ دَيْنٌ عَلَيْهِ فَاقْضِيهِ

Translation

✧ A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, “My father died without performing the Hajj of Islam.” The Messenger of God ﷺ said, “Do you think that if your father had a debt, you would pay it on his behalf?” He said, “Yes.” He said, “Then it is a debt upon him, so pay it.”
